Labidochromis caeruleus Holding Eggs

Labidochromis caeruleus is one of the most popular of the african cichlids. The bright yellow color makes it an instant favorite at the local pet store. The common name is in fact “Electric Yellow”or otherers may know them as “Yellow Labs”. I have a few of them thrown in with my adult frontosa. Recently, I noticed the alpha male chasing around all the females and doing their little circling dance. This week I noticed this female had a mouthful of eggs. I haven’t been able to net her yet to save the babies but I hope to get time to do it next week. I may have to pull all the rocks out of the tank in order to catch her. Hopefully she will try hiding in one of the shells in the tank and I can just lift the shell out.
